About The Position

Responsible for all DME supply room inventory par levels hospital-wide; collects broken equipment, performs basic inspections of DME per standards set by the AAMC Biomedical Department and makes sure DME is clean, functional, and safe for patient use. This role involves maintaining the VERSUS RFID tracking system, including RFID tags, batteries, and software updates. The specialist will use the VERSUS RFID system and have privileges in the Mednet system for tracking and reporting. Communication for DME needs will be received primarily via the EPIC CLINCON system and secondarily via phone. The specialist will conduct physical and virtual rounds throughout the hospital to collect broken equipment, return it to the central DME storage for Biomed pickup, and return repaired equipment to clinical areas. They will replace broken equipment with spares to minimize clinical downtime and perform minor repair/replacement tasks, entering Biomed work orders when necessary. This position is responsible for maintaining inventory par levels in the DME supply room and central equipment storage. Basic inspections of DME will be performed to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and safety, adhering to AAMC Biomedical Department standards. Relevant DME data, including cleaning, repair, and staff cleaning compliance statistics, will be collected and reported. Records of maintenance, inventory, and safety inspection activities will be maintained according to departmental policies. The specialist will also educate staff on basic DME functions and participate in large equipment projects, such as IV pump exchanges, which includes unpacking, inspecting, asset tagging, inventorying, and delivering new equipment. All duties will be performed in accordance with MOSHA, Equipment, and Manufacturer safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment and safe equipment operations. Hazardous waste will be disposed of in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Enrollment in an accredited Bioengineering program/medical terminology experience.
  • One year experience in a hospital setting
