About The Position

Austin Industries is seeking an Equipment Sales & Rental Manager for its equipment yard in Southwest Dallas, Texas. This role is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies to increase third-party rentals, managing the rebate program with national vendors, and overseeing pricing, strategic direction, and organization of the division. The company is one of the nation's largest and most diversified U.S.-based construction companies, with over 7,000 employee-owners.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the construction equipment industry
  • Proven experience leading equipment sales and rental operations
  • Proven ability to interface directly with customers, project managers, and subcontractors to assess project needs, timelines, and equipment requirements
  • Experience managing or forecasting equipment utilization and maintaining accurate projections
  • Ability to plan, lead, and facilitate recurring sales or operational meetings and track progress against goals and metrics
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and municipal regulations related to equipment sales, rentals, labor, safety, and employment practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the company professionally to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training/certification
  • Proficiency in general office software (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.) for reporting and administrative tasks
  • HCSS and Heavy Equipment 360 experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Requires working outdoors at times in the rain or snow and during cold, warm, and hot temperatures
  • Must be able to work on call as needed

Responsibilities

  • Making the first contact with the project to determine equipment needs and estimated durations, and contacting subcontractors as they are signed on by the Project Manager.
  • Displaying professional representation of the division and company to all customers, both internal and external.
  • Maintaining accurate equipment records.
  • Ensuring customer needs are met.
  • Reviewing and verifying outside equipment rentals.
  • Assisting in the overall accounts receivable and collections process, and holding the sales representative accountable for the same.
  • Conducting weekly sales meetings for planning, information exchange, and measuring success against sales goals, ensuring all available leads are pursued completely, organized, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  • Keeping the management team informed on market events.
  • Holding quarterly meetings with National Accounts to ensure full advantage of rebates and handle any disputes.
  • Maximizing utilization of the equipment fleet and services.
  • Engaging in internal and external networking events as part of marketing efforts.
  • Identifying and developing additional opportunities for profit/fee by leveraging existing Austin subcontractor/vendor relationships on existing Austin projects and beyond.
  • Ensuring compliance with all corporate and division policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and municipal laws related to equipment sales, rentals, and related services, including employment, compensation, health, safety, and labor/management relations. Taking corrective action where necessary and notifying/involving corporate personnel as required.
  • Developing subordinates to enhance their current and future contribution to the organization while maintaining a work environment conducive to teamwork, shared goals, and employee-owner development.
  • Establishing, maintaining, and communicating clear responsibilities and expectations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
