About The Position

Austin Industries, a large and diversified construction company, is seeking an Equipment Sales & Rental Manager for its equipment yard in Southwest Dallas, Texas. This role is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies to increase third-party rentals, managing the rebate program with national vendors, and overseeing pricing, strategic direction, and organization of the division. The company is 100% employee-owned and values integrity, employee-ownership, service, and safety.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the construction equipment industry.
  • Proven experience leading equipment sales and rental operations.
  • Proven ability to interface directly with customers, project managers, and subcontractors to assess project needs, timelines, and equipment requirements.
  • Experience managing or forecasting equipment utilization and maintaining accurate projections.
  • Ability to plan, lead, and facilitate recurring sales or operational meetings and track progress against goals and metrics.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and municipal regulations related to equipment sales, rentals, labor, safety, and employment practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the company professionally to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training/certification.
  • Proficiency in general office software (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.) for reporting and administrative tasks.
  • HCSS and Heavy Equipment 360 experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Requires working outdoors at times in the rain or snow and during cold, warm, and hot temperatures.
  • Must be able to work on call as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Making the first contact with the project to see what equipment will be needed and estimated durations.
  • Contacting subcontractors as the Project Manager signs them on.
  • Displaying professional representation of the division and the company to all customers, both internal and external.
  • Maintaining accurate equipment records.
  • Ensuring that the needs of the customer are met.
  • Review and verification of outside equipment rentals.
  • Assisting in the overall accounts receivable and collections process.
  • Holding the sales representative accountable to do the same.
  • Conducting weekly sales meetings for planning, exchange of information, and to measure success against sales goals.
  • Ensuring that all available leads are being pursued in a complete, organized, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Keeping the management team informed on market events.
  • Holding quarterly meetings with National Accounts to ensure full advantage of rebates and handle disputes.
  • Maximizing utilization of the equipment fleet and services.
  • Engaging in internal and external networking events as part of marketing efforts.
  • Identifying and developing additional opportunities for profit/fee by harvesting existing Austin subcontractor/vendor relationships on existing Austin projects and beyond.
  • Ensuring compliance with all corporate and division policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and municipal laws related to equipment sales, rentals, and related services, including all dealings with employment, compensation, health, safety, labor/management relations, etc.
  • Taking corrective action where necessary and notifying/involving corporate personnel where required or needed.
  • Developing subordinates to enhance their current and future contribution to the organization while maintaining a work environment conducive to teamwork, shared goals, and employee-owner development.
  • Establishing, maintaining, and communicating clear responsibilities and expectations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
