Equipment Repair Technician
About The Position
The Virginia State Police is hiring an Equipment Repair Technician for its Finance and General Services Center at the Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The position installs, removes, and repairs police, communications, and other electronic equipment in Virginia State Police vehicles, and services and repairs motor vehicles. The job requires working knowledge of equipment installation procedures, diagnostic and repair skills, the ability to read technical documents, and a Virginia operator's license. A high school diploma or equivalent and previous experience or training in electrical, electronic, or automobile work are required. Virginia State Inspection certification is preferred.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of equipment installation procedures and techniques related to police, communications, and other electronic equipment.
- Skill in diagnosing, repairing, and servicing equipment.
- Ability to read and comprehend schematic diagrams and other related technical documents.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, with personnel.
- Virginia Operator's License required.
- Previous experience or training in electrical, electronic, or automobile work.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Virginia State Inspection certification.
