About The Position

The Equipment Purchasing Intern is responsible for auditing and tagging store equipment at Hy-Vee retail locations throughout the summer. The role involves travel to and from stores, including overnight stays, within Hy-Vee’s nine-state region. Work is approximately 90% in retail locations and 10% in an office. The intern also audits Hy-Vee-owned equipment at warehouses and other non-retail locations, validates expenses daily, and submits weekly equipment change reports. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• High school diploma and enrollment in a college or university.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Computer skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Self-starter.

Nice To Haves

• One to two years of Hy-Vee experience; otherwise, at least two years of college completed.
• An accounting major is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Verify the equipment at each store.
• Perform audit procedures on store equipment and update each store’s equipment asset listing.
• Complete and submit a weekly equipment change report for each location.
• Assist Equipment Department personnel with researching equipment locations and processing equipment changes.
• Audit Hy-Vee-owned equipment at warehouses and other non-retail locations.
• Validate expenses daily.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
• Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
