About The Position

The Equipment Purchasing Intern audits and tags store equipment at Hy-Vee retail locations during the summer months. The role requires travel to and from stores throughout Hy-Vee’s nine-state region, including overnight stays. Work is performed approximately 90% in retail locations and 10% in an office. The intern also audits Hy-Vee-owned equipment at warehouses and other non-retail locations, validates expenses daily, and assists the Equipment Department with researching equipment locations and processing equipment changes. The position is accountable to the Equipment Purchasing Agent and Assistant Vice President, Equipment Purchasing, and has no direct reports. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• High school diploma and enrollment in a college or university.
• At least 2 years of college completed if the applicant does not have 1–2 years of Hy-Vee experience.
• Computer skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Self-starter.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to see detail at near and far range, with or without correction.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, reach, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.

Nice To Haves

• 1–2 years of Hy-Vee experience.
• Accounting major.

Responsibilities

• Verify the equipment at each store.
• Perform audit procedures on store equipment and update each store’s equipment asset listing.
• Complete and submit a weekly equipment change report for each location.
• Assist Equipment Department personnel in researching equipment locations and processing equipment changes.
• Audit Hy-Vee-owned equipment at warehouses and other non-retail locations.
• Validate expenses daily.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
• Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
