Equipment Prep & Paint Technician
About The Position
At Leppo Rents, we’re looking for individuals who take pride in quality work, want to grow their skills, and enjoy working with heavy machinery. This role involves preparing heavy machinery and equipment surfaces through sanding, grinding, and chemical cleaning, masking and protecting equipment areas before painting, and mixing and applying primers, paints, and coatings. You will also inspect finished surfaces for quality, perform touch-ups, and operate and maintain painting and safety equipment. Following safety protocols and properly handling hazardous materials are crucial aspects of this position.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED (technical or trade school training preferred)
- At least 2 years of experience with surface prep and painting on large vehicles or machinery
- Strong knowledge of paint types, surface prep, and application methods
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals and safety data sheets
- A safety-focused mindset and ability to work thoroughly and independently
Responsibilities
- Prepare heavy machinery and equipment surfaces through sanding, grinding, and chemical cleaning
- Mask and protect equipment areas before painting
- Mix and apply primers, paints, and coatings using spray guns, brushes, or rollers
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality and perform touch-ups as needed
- Operate and maintain painting and safety equipment including spray booths and sand blasting booths
- Follow safety protocols and properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials
