About The Position

In Business since 1919 and still growing, Arrow is a leader in bulk commodity hauling, reload operations, freight management, logistics, consulting, and technology with operations throughout Canada and the U.S. We are looking for a Equipment Operator to join our Portable Wood Processing North Operations team in Fort St. James. This position will process residual slash piles from logging operations, in various locations, to be loaded and delivered for use as bioenergy. The operator will operate and help maintain various pieces of equipment including excavator, grader, log loader and a Peterson 5710 grinder.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating a Buttontop/Clam loader or working in similar operation
  • Previous Excavator experience is required
  • Previous Grader experience is required
  • S100 certification, First Aid and TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) training required. Arrow will provide training prior to first day worked
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, heat, wind)
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Must be willing to commute to the worksite and work out of town as required
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to carry at least 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment (ie. excavator, grader, log loader, grinder) used for grading and maintaining dirt and gravel roadways, used for deactivation of roads, used for cleaning ditches and residuals left after grinding a pile, to load logs into grinder, to grind residual slash piles into hogfuel and to load product onto trucks
  • Assist with road prep to ensure the trucks can load off the grinder
  • Communicate and direct truck drivers regarding load locations
  • Support inventory control (inbound/outbound/on ground) and accurately document load slips
  • Perform daily routine maintenance on all equipment and troubleshoot when experiencing equipment failures or breakdowns
  • Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics
  • Follow all workplace safety policies, and compliance regulations, participate in identifying hazards
  • Inspect and verify product condition to ensure cleanliness and compliance with loading procedures
  • Provide internal and external Customer Service excellence
  • May be asked to travel out of town if necessary
  • Ability to understand cross training on all functions
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
