About The Position

BioNorth Energy, a joint-venture partnership, is seeking a 3rd Class Power Engineer for its 40-megawatt biomass power generation facility in Fort St. James, BC. This role is responsible for the safe operation of the power plant and related auxiliary equipment, contributing to British Columbia's clean energy goals. Requirements

  • BC or Interprovincial 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate
  • Experience as a power engineer in a biomass plant
  • Experience with power plant operations and working with boilers, turbines and biomass fuel handling systems
  • Familiarity with PLC and DCS systems
  • The ability to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work procedures
  • Confined space experience
  • Hazardous energy isolation experience
  • The ability to demonstrate strong communication skills both verbally and written
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong leadership and training abilities
  • The ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire new skills and utilize technology to streamline processes
  • The ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (day and night shifts)
  • The ability to pass drug and alcohol screening
  • The ability to perform all tasks associated with the Power Engineer position

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all safety requirements are met or exceeded
  • Perform related duties to ensure the cleanliness and general upkeep of the plant and outside operations
  • Closely liaise and communicate with staff and other departments to ensure consistent operations of the power plant and auxiliary equipment
  • Facilitate the reliable supply of services to the plant
  • Operate a wide variety of equipment
  • Provide operational expertise to resolve frequently changing process conditions
  • Identify plant improvements
  • Ensure good communication and cooperation with other teams
  • Ensure good communication with stakeholder representatives
  • Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations
  • Provide internal and external customer service excellence
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
