About The Position
Waste Connections of Canada is an integrated services company that provides solid waste collection, transfer, disposal and recycling services to local residents and businesses throughout the U.S. and Canada. This position is on a 20-month temporary contract. Our priority is to make sure we hire safe Temporary Equipment Operators that care about the service provided to the community.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience operating equipment.
- General mechanical aptitude/experience in basic daily maintenance of heavy equipment required.
- Safety conscious, able to work safely in sometimes challenging conditions.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to adapt to new situations.
- Minimum Class 5 Driver’s License required with clear abstract.
- A criminal record check will be required.
Nice To Haves
- Certificate(s) in Heavy Equipment Operation an asset.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and policies according to company Safety Manual and OH&S Regulations.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and report any issues or items of concern found.
- Clean heavy equipment as scheduled or required.
- Directing traffic in and around the material delivery areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
