About The Position

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Equipment Operator Trainee or Equipment Operator at our Montgomery County Oaks Landfill, located in Derwood, MD. This position’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, operating equipment while picking up and delivering recycling carts, and picking up and hauling residential and commercial solid waste throughout Montgomery County.

Requirements

• Graduation from a standard high school or GED
• Ability to pass a standard physical examination
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points
• Environmental Operations Trainee (EOT): No additional experience.
• Environmental Operator: 1 year of applicable experience.
• Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Montgomery County
• Previous driver/delivery experience
• Ability to manipulate bins/carts of various sizes
• Experience interacting with the public
• Ability to use technology such as GPS phone applications, email and Microsoft Suite programs
