About The Position

Operates road construction vehicles and equipment. Acts as lead by assisting in the training and supervision of road crews.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited high school/GED Program.
• Three (3) years of work-related experience operating heavy equipment at a level equivalent to an Equipment Operator II or I.
• Must have a valid Class A Texas Drivers License and good driving record.
• Will be required to provide a copy of 10-year driving history.
• Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.
• Mandatory drug testing prior to employment, and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.
• Ability to read plans and set grades.

Responsibilities

• Operates construction vehicles, equipment, and heavy and light trucks in a safe and skillful manner, to include sheepsfooter rollers, mixers, water trucks, dozers, compactors, and other equipment.
• Assists in supervising and instructing road and bridge crews.
• Assists patching and bridge crew.
• Assist in setting up jobs and plans.
• Completes daily activity and operating reports.
• Regulates traffic control and work zone safety at construction sites.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
