About The Position

The North Dakota Department of Transportation is looking for dedicated and skilled professionals to join their team. Winter hours will be 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. from November through April, with a shift differential of $2.00 per hour. This position also qualifies for a Regional Pay Differential payment of $800 per month.

Requirements

  • Valid North Dakota Class A driver license without air brake restrictions and a cargo tank endorsement (N) by the first day of work.
  • Two years of relevant experience or one year of experience and one season of winter operations similar to NDDOT.
  • Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) reflecting the required abilities for this position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis. Related MOS codes include Truck Driver (88M), Horizontal Construction Engineer (12N), and Pavements & Construction (3E2X1).
  • Must be able to report to work within 30 minutes, after hours, on weekends, and on holidays during emergency events.
  • Must satisfactorily complete the interview process and the required drug test, job function screening, reference check, driver record check and federal clearinghouse query screening.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highway, roadway, and structure maintenance.
  • Operate heavy equipment to perform required maintenance duties like basic snow and ice control/removal.
  • Assist in installing, repairing, and maintaining highway signs and guardrails.
  • Operate power tools and other equipment to perform maintenance duties.
  • Keep the roadways clear of any hazards, including litter, waste, debris, garbage, and carcasses.
  • Complete building and ground maintenance duties.
  • Perform general routine maintenance of the roadway and radio system equipment.
  • Perform minor preventive and repair maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain necessary paperwork, including time records, activity reporting, daily diary, and road reports.
  • Receive training and perform construction project duties under close supervision.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself, your coworkers, and others.

Benefits

  • Shift differential schedules will be established by the district weekly and will be paid a shift differential of $2.00 per hour.
  • This position qualifies for Regional Pay Differential payment of $800 per month.
