About The Position

The Utah County Public Works Department is a multi-service Department within County government operating in the areas of Administration, Buildings, Engineering, Mapping, Motor Pool, Parks, Roads, Special Projects, Surveying and Telecommunications. Under general guidance and direction of the Weed Control Supervisor, performs manual, semi-skilled, and skilled labor in weed control, vegetation management, and emergency road operations within Utah County. Operates light and heavy equipment, including but not limited to specialized spray equipment, land tamer, backhoe, roadside mower, chipper, spray truck, plow truck, and ATV.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of work experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Two (2) years of vegetation management work experience that includes identifying and treating noxious weeds for a total of four (4) years.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Valid State of Utah class A commercial driver’s license with N endorsement.
  • Non-commercial pesticide applicator certification in Right-of-Way, Aquatic, Ornamental & Turf, and Agriculture (plant) classifications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs manual, semi-skilled, and skilled labor in weed control, vegetation management, and emergency road operations within Utah County.
  • Operates light and heavy equipment, including but not limited to specialized spray equipment, land tamer, backhoe, roadside mower, chipper, spray truck, plow truck, and ATV.
