About The Position

Cass County Weed Control is seeking a temporary individual to assist in the control of noxious and invasive weeds within Cass County. The role supports the mission of providing leadership and education in long-term noxious/invasive weed management through cultural, biological, and chemical control strategies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to acquire Commercial Applicator Certification in Ag Pest Control and Right-of-Way categories
• Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Able to walk ½ mile through rough terrain
• Ability to drive an ATV with sprayer
• Ability to drive a truck pulling an equipment trailer
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, and GPS (Global Positioning Systems) equipment
• Must be 18 years or older

Nice To Haves

• College course work or related field of noxious and invasive weeds, chemical and biological control methods of noxious weeds
• Experience with GPS mapping programs
• Map reading skills

Responsibilities

• Scout for and apply appropriate control methods to noxious and invasive weed sites
• Control weeds using chemical, mechanical, and biological agents
• Map noxious and invasive weed sites using GPS and computer mapping equipment
• Perform data entry using Microsoft Excel and GPS mapping programs
• Maintain spray equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Weed Officer
