Equipment Operator II (Transportation): OIDD-Midlands

The position for this posting is located at Midlands Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy equipment, motorized vehicles or machinery that is directly related to the area of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of how to operator a vehicle with a wheelchair lift.
- Knowledge and skills in securing wheelchairs in vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Under the direct supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, this position transports consumers at OIDD-Midlands Center on and off campus.
- Transports consumers to all consumers to Day Programs, medical appointments, and all various activities by utilizing state vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
- Completes daily vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections as well as maintains vehicle cleanliness.
- Assists staff and consumers as needed to safely complete medical appointments and daily programs activities.
- Recognizes mechanical faults and reports to supervisor.
- Reports accidents, injuries, and/or damages of vehicle.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
