About The Position

Under general supervision, the Campus Shuttle Operator would be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of employees, students, or patients around the Medical District. The role involves operating vehicles, maintaining logs, communicating with passengers, and performing basic vehicle maintenance. This position requires the ability to work in various weather conditions and adhere to safety protocols.

Requirements

• One year experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy equipment, motorized vehicles or machinery that is directly related to the area of employment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to perform job functions in an upright position (Frequent).
• Ability to perform job functions in a seated position (Frequent).
• Ability to perform job functions while walking/mobile (Frequent).

Responsibilities

• Transports employees, students, and visitors to MUSC and areas within the assigned area of operations.
• Safely and efficiently boards and discharges passengers.
• Monitors vehicle performance and addresses issues within the operator's responsibility scope.
• Maintains administrative and operational logs, including inspection forms, mileage logs, passenger counts, and accident/incident reports.
• Communicates effectively with passengers and customers regarding transportation schedules and services.
• Makes timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
• Fuels and cleans the vehicle, including mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and washing.
• Performs operator's pre/post vehicle inspections and adds fluids as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including substituting for other drivers, quick rides, and out-of-town day trips.
