About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Northern Region Highways & Aviation, is seeking an Equipment Operator Foreman 1 for the Nome Maintenance Station. This role involves leading a crew of six full-time and three seasonal employees in the year-round maintenance of state highways and general aviation airports. The position is responsible for planning, scheduling, directing, and monitoring daily maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely and in compliance with requirements. The Foreman will also operate heavy-duty equipment and work alongside the crew as needed to ensure the assigned area operates safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Qualified to operate all equipment at the duty station
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work
  • Two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of highways or airports
  • Must possess a Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with N-Tanker endorsement at time of hire.
  • Must register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety sensitive duties.
  • Must provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.

Nice To Haves

  • Some positions may require a First Aid, ETT, CPR, or First Responder certification.
  • Some positions require Hazardous Materials training and American Traffic Safety Services Association training.
  • Some positions may be required to use a firearm or ammunition and are therefore subject to Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(9) which prohibits persons who have ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence from owning, possessing, or using a firearm or ammunition.
