About The Position

Tejas Equipment Rentals is hiring a full-time Equipment Mechanic / Delivery Driver at their San Marcos branch. This dual-role position involves maintaining and repairing the company's fleet in the shop and delivering equipment to customers using a company F250 with a trailer. The role is described as being between entry-level make-ready and journey-level diagnostics, suitable for someone with mechanical experience and comfort operating a truck and trailer. It offers variety and a clear path for advancement within the mechanic ranks.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record (MVR check required at hire and annually).
  • At least 23 years of age (to operate company vehicles).
  • Minimum of 6 months of full-time experience driving a truck and trailer.
  • Hands-on mechanical experience, including preventive maintenance and basic repairs on vehicles or equipment.
  • Comfortable maneuvering and backing a truck and trailer in various conditions (tight spots, heavy traffic, all weather).
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 90 pounds.
  • Safety-minded, dependable, and a strong communicator.
  • Possess a can-do attitude, pride in work, and willingness to learn new tools and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and service equipment to ensure it is in top working condition before delivery.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine repairs, including oil and filter changes, fluid checks, battery maintenance, tire services, and hose replacements.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic issues under the guidance of experienced technicians.
  • Prepare equipment for customers by cleaning, checking, fueling, and ensuring overall readiness.
  • Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records.
  • Deliver and pick up rental equipment using a company-provided F250 truck and trailer.
  • Load, chain, strap, and block equipment in compliance with DOT procedures.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of trucks and trailers.
  • Inspect equipment before and after each pickup.
  • Answer customers' general questions about safe equipment operation during drop-off.
  • Report any equipment damage, delays, or accidents promptly to the Branch Manager.
  • Communicate with the branch and dispatch regarding delivery schedules.
