Equipment Manager Job Description Hourly Range: $38 - $45 Location: San Francisco, CA About Global Gourmet Catering Global Gourmet Catering is a full-service catering and event production company based in San Francisco. Position Summary We are hiring for a part-time Equipment Manager (EQ). This non-exempt (hourly) onsite role is responsible for the proper storage, disbursement, packaging, and care of all GGC-owned or rented equipment before, during, and after catering events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of catering or banquet experience required.
  • Knowledge of buffet and station setups as well as breakdown of all equipment & depot areas is required.
  • Detailed Knowledge of catering event equipment, including names, function of equipment, and proper use is required.
  • Advanced Customer Service & Client Interaction Experience Required (minimum of 2 years)
  • Strong active listening, verbal and written communication, coordination, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics for inventory tracking and event logistics
  • Expert critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities to address on-site operational challenges is required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify operational issues.
  • Strong oral and written comprehension - Proficient in English
  • Spanish Speaking abilities is a plus, but not required.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Food Handler Certification
  • Serving experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment is required.
  • 2 years of management or supervisory experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory and assign equipment to the proper area while onsite and ; coordinate with other onsite teams to set up equipment depots and staging areas; direct staff to load/unload equipment from trucks.
  • Read and understand detailed event notes including event specific documents, such as: Event Detail Sheets (EDS) and Equipment Pack Lists (EPL) and other documents critical to executing this role. Ability to make on-site decisions regarding equipment needs and changes. Detailed knowledge of catering equipment, food service stations, buffet and service equipment. Act as the primary resource for resolving equipment-related challenges.
  • Set up and maintain equipment depots. Responsible for overseeing bussing, composting, and recycling for the entire event, with the potential of managing a small crew of porters for large scale events.
  • Attend Manager Meetings to get initial directives from the production team. Participate in staff meetings to discuss equipment handling, bussing & trash procedures as well as break down and load out plans.
  • Monitor for damaged or missing equipment; clean and organize equipment depot; perform final cleanup of all event staging areas upon conclusion of the event.
  • Utilize fire extinguishers in the event of a fire; perform other duties as requested by the Event Manager and the Director of Event Services or Event Services Manager.
