About The Position

Designs, builds, develops, and modifies equipment and processes to achieve safety, quality, scrap and cost targets. This role involves identifying and executing solutions for improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and costs. The Equipment Engineer will design and prepare drawings of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment, and will design, develop, and build equipment for new processes while evaluating and modifying existing equipment as needed. They will also assist in the maintenance and improvement of all equipment, reduce process costs while improving product quality through equipment kaizens, and provide equipment engineering support to other departments. Additionally, the role involves developing engineering plans and designs to manufacture products safely and efficiently, assisting in the development and maintenance of quality sensors and poka yokes, preparing engineering drawings, cost estimates, manufacturing reports, and minor designs. Collaboration with outside suppliers and contractors to achieve SRK-OH equipment specifications, analyzing quotations and bids, and developing recommendations for new equipment are also key responsibilities. The role also includes helping to analyze customer claims and concerns to determine root causes and make or recommend countermeasures. Other responsibilities include modifying equipment and programming to implement new products, helping to maintain and improve equipment reliability and uptime, improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost, and reviewing and modifying plant equipment layout for efficient use of floor space and improved material flow. Travel as required, sometimes on short notice, is also part of the role. Associates at all levels must maintain their Roles and Responsibilities as outlined within SRK-OH’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO9001 and ISO 14001.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering or 4 years' experience in a manufacturing process with an equipment or maintenance background.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good computer skills, including Office, CAD and PLC programming.
  • Understanding of mechanical movement, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems.
  • Ability to read part drawings as well as equipment drawings and schematics.
  • Experience in automotive component manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of material handling principles and equipment; parts manufacturing equipment and processes; automated and manual assembly processes; tooling and fixture design; engineering mechanics; drafting; heat transfer; electrics and electronics; hydraulics; pneumatics; control system principles and equipment.
