About The Position

Camp Speers is seeking a seasonal Equestrian Specialist to support its camp community. The role helps children reach their potential through age-appropriate programming and positive relationships with campers and parents. The specialist assists with riding activities, horse care, barn management, and the upkeep of ranch facilities while helping ensure camper safety and well-being across ages, abilities, and skill levels. The position pays $350–$450 per week.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have at least one year of experience working with children and teens.
Have knowledge of horse care and riding instruction.
Have experience or aptitude for working closely with children in a positive, supportive manner.
Have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
Enjoy working with children and maintaining positive relationships with their parents in high-energy athletic environments.
Have excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Assist with implementing the program curriculum for riding activities.
Enforce all riding procedures.
Teach English and Western riding at various levels as assigned.
Teach basic horse and barn management.
Assist in establishing and carrying out daily horse feeding and care procedures.
Perform routine health checks and, under the Equestrian Director’s supervision, identify and treat minor horse illnesses and ailments.
Help keep the stable, riding arenas, pastures, fencing, and general ranch area clean and in good repair.
Help ensure programs meet the needs of campers of all ages, abilities, and skill levels while maintaining their safety and well-being.
