About The Position

The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Epidemiologist in the Health, Housing & Community Services Department. This role offers the opportunity to work for one of only three city agencies in the State of California with its own Public Health Division. The position involves performing various functions related to the gathering and analysis of health statistical data and information. Additionally, the Epidemiologist will provide assistance to program staff in support of the planning, development, administration, and evaluation of programs. This is a temporary vacancy with a projected end date of November 2027.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in health science, epidemiology, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience designing, conducting, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating epidemiological, research or evaluation studies.
  • Ability to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet program needs and fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record when driving on City business.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in epidemiology, biostatistics or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
