Riggs Cat Power & Energy is hiring EPG Commissioning Technicians to start up standby, emergency, and data center generator systems. Technicians bring new installations online, perform acceptance and load-bank witness testing, and troubleshoot controls, paralleling, and switchgear before handover. An electrical or controls background is required, and the company invests in certification. This certification-intensive field track follows the Cat Electric Power progression and includes startup-specific controls training. Skills are validated through formal Cat skills assessments. During startup, technicians often serve as the technical point of contact at the client’s site. The role involves commissioning and troubleshooting generators and related power systems, leading client-facing acceptance testing, and traveling for extended classroom training and on-site startup events. The position is hourly and non-exempt. Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather, and vibration; the noise level is usually moderate. Extended periods of driving are required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
