Under general supervision, EOP Events Coordinator plans, coordinates, and implements EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) events; works with campus partners on logistics, approvals, venues, hospitality, communications, virtual platforms, and post-event assessments; supports summer programs; and helps create welcoming experiences that advance student connection, retention, and success.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multi-cultural/multi-ethnic populations; students that are historically low-income, and educationally disadvantaged is a plus.
  • Direct experience with Educational Opportunity and/or Trio Programs is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities of special event programming.
  • General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and project management.
  • Knowledge of group process training and development practices and knowledge of Microsoft Office (incl. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook or other email/calendaring platforms).
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, student organizations, faculty, staff, administrators, commercial vendors, and the general public.
  • Ability to create and execute a desired plan.
  • Ability to understand and work within programmatic budgets.
  • Ability to negotiate and execute contracts.
  • Ability to interpret and apply University rules and regulations.
  • Ability to recognize multicultural value systems and work accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and implements a variety of EOP events, including but not limited to program meetings, seminars, workshops, orientations, field trips, graduations, holidays, award ceremonies, program trainings, student-centered, and student-parent-centered activities.
  • Provides an administrative plan for each event that can be executed in compliance with university guidelines.
  • Coordinates administrative services and works with on-campus and off-campus partners for on-site program needs including insurance, landscaping, custodial needs, permits, parking, room and venue selection, event set up, scheduling, décor, staging, menu selection, sound, security, clean up, and breakdown of event resources, translation, etc., while ensuring that all University rules and regulations are being met.
  • Supports virtual events using Zoom and other virtual platforms, using knowledge of the latest technical services available to the campus that include online meetings, interpreter services, closed caption services, and other computing services to meet the needs of internal and external clients where appropriate or necessary.
  • Coordinates a range of post-event assessments to inform future planning practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
