About The Position

Wood is currently recruiting for an Environmental Technician to support our Texas remediation services Team. The position will be tied to our El Paso, Texas office but we will consider staff living in the Texas Panhandle and Permian Basin areas. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of proven experience in groundwater monitoring and soil sampling programs. Experience with operation and maintenance of remediation systems is a plus. Wood has multiple on-going projects requiring technician support across a large geographic footprint in West Texas and parts of New Mexico. The position is self-driven to a large degree, but training and oversight are available. Training is available for remediation system operation as well as asbestos support roles.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years experience conducting groundwater monitoring.
  • Willingness to support soil sampling and remediation system operations (will train).
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize evolving project requirements for multiple ongoing projects.
  • Able to work in a high-pressure environment with tight delivery deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and properly document field data.
  • Proven communication skills.
  • Team oriented.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Experience working with MS Word, Excel, and all programs under MS Office.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with operation and maintenance of remediation systems a plus.
  • Experience with groundwater treatment systems or asbestos sampling/monitoring considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting routine groundwater level measurements and collecting groundwater samples.
  • Supporting groundwater treatment system operations and maintenance.
  • Assisting with the implementation of environmental soil and groundwater sampling programs.
  • Supporting licensed professionals in asbestos and mold sampling.
  • Field documentation - daily field notes, groundwater monitoring logs, O&M inspection logs, entry of data into spreadsheets (optional).
  • Routine travel and physical field work required collecting samples, moving pumps and hoses, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by Environmental Leads.
