About The Position

HDR has a growing team within Saskatchewan and is looking to hire an Environmental Technician (6-month contract) to help support various projects within our Environmental Science and Planning (ES&P) Group. Our team is made up of Environmental professionals, with experience in aquatics, soils, contaminated sites, wildlife vegetation, wetlands and ecology with abundant local knowledge and experience within the environmental consulting field. We work for a variety of sectors and clients, across Saskatchewan and Canada; as a global company we also have projects worldwide. We are looking for highly motivated, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic staff to join our dynamic group of HDR biologists, scientists and.

Requirements

  • College diploma or Associate's Degree in engineering, biology, geology, chemistry, or related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • MS Office experience.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 – 3 years of experience in the consulting field or related summer work between periods of education.
  • The ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of pertinent environmental regulations is an asset.
  • Team player willing to do field work as required to help contribute to the success of HDR’s project teams.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people including management, regulatory agencies, clients, and the public.
  • Any experience working in the oil and gas industry, remote work doing extended shifts or workdays is an asset.
  • Eligibility for membership in a professional organization is an asset (e.g., P.Ag, P.Biol, APEGS)
  • Valid class 5 driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Participate in environmental baseline studies, environmental assessment, reporting and field work as required.
  • Environmental monitoring on linear projects throughout Saskatchewan and western Canada.
  • Conduct desktop reviews of scientific literature and existing data for technical reporting.
  • Learn and support permitting, and regulatory compliance related to the environmental field of study.
  • Work collaboratively with HDR’s multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in HDR health and safety programs.
  • Travel to conduct field work. Extended field shifts will be required for this position.
