About The Position

The Environmental Technician performs field-based, labor-intensive environmental compliance support at the Springerville Generating Station. The position supports air, water, waste, and drinking water programs through hands-on implementation activities, including housekeeping, vegetation control, inspections, sampling, and maintenance of compliance programs. The technician supports Environmental Coordinators by carrying out field tasks needed to maintain compliance with permits and programs such as Title V, the Aquifer Protection Permit (APP), Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR), RCRA hazardous waste requirements, and drinking water regulations. Level I work includes site maintenance and housekeeping; vegetation control; manual labor; hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and storage support; and field support for CCR units, including inspections, housekeeping, and sampling assistance. Level II work additionally supports APP and water management activities, including water and groundwater sampling, inspections of ponds and conveyance systems, and field measurements. It also supports Title V and air compliance activities, such as visible emissions observations, maintaining air monitoring equipment, gas cylinder changes, and stack testing support, as well as drinking water sampling and infrastructure upkeep. The role involves regular work throughout the generating station and surrounding operational and environmental monitoring areas.
