About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking an Environmental Technician I to join their Environmental team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Intertek's Building and Construction division provides assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting services across various architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines. Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI), a part of Intertek, is a leading provider of construction assurance, testing, and inspection services in the US, offering services such as construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing. The Entry Level Environmental Technician will support environmental consulting work, including asbestos and indoor air quality projects. This position may require off-shift work, overtime, and occasional travel.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates Degree or 2-year Technical Degree
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Must be able to read and understand scope of work / work plans
  • Must be able to work off shifts and overtime and willing to work out of town
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or BS in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field
  • Experience in environmental consulting services
  • Asbestos and Industrial Hygiene experience and license

Responsibilities

  • Conducting environmental consulting work, including asbestos and indoor air quality related work.
  • Asbestos/Lead Based Paint/Mold Surveys
  • Asbestos/Lead Based Paint/Mold Abatement Monitoring
  • Asbestos/Lead Based Paint/Mold Clearance Sampling
  • Asbestos Air Sample Analysis
  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)
  • Phase II/Subsurface Investigations
  • Composing and reviewing field documentation and reports
  • Communicating with clients and regulatory agencies to keep projects moving and on schedule
  • Participating in all QA/QC programs as appropriate and Safety Programs
