About The Position

Clean assigned areas—including patient rooms, public areas, offices, and equipment—in accordance with hospital and department standards to promote quality of care in the environment. Duties also include moving equipment, furniture, and boxes, and removing or hanging blinds and curtains. The role is full-time on evenings at UPMC Harrisburg, with every other weekend and holiday required.

Requirements

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to complete housekeeping duties successfully.
• Ability to use housekeeping equipment.
• Act 34 clearance.
• May enter rooms where medications are stored; contact with medications is not allowed.

Nice To Haves

• Housekeeping experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Make beds in patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned, following established cleaning procedures.
• Inspect assigned areas to ensure they are clean and in good repair, and report problems to the supervisor.
• Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in assigned areas.
• Clean assigned patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices, and equipment according to established procedures.
• Keep assigned equipment clean and in working condition; report problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
• Remove trash from assigned areas.
• Follow safety and sanitation regulations.
• Move equipment, furniture, and boxes; wash walls and spot-clean carpets as assigned.
• Remove and hang blinds and curtains as assigned.
