About The Position

This position provides specialized transportation and disposal services to clients. The Environmental Specialist samples, profiles, packages, labels, manifests, and coordinates the transportation and disposal of waste while following applicable state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. The role also includes spill response and remedial activities, equipment operation and maintenance, and client service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong teamwork, interpersonal, communication, time-management, customer-service, computer, and assignment follow-through skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline.
• Ability to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazardous (H) endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
• Manifest, package, label, load, and unload waste; respond to spills and perform remedial activities; and coordinate transportation.
• Answer client inquiries and suggest solutions to existing or potential problems while maintaining a professional image.
• Comply with and enforce compliance, health, safety, and other procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies.
• Become familiar with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and VES-TS regulations relevant to paperwork for hazardous waste disposal.
• Operate and maintain equipment professionally to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
