This is specialized professional environmental work performing research on environmental radiation on lands to be mined and on lands that have been reclaimed after mining. The incumbent conducts environmental radiological surveillance to determine the environmental impact of phosphate mining. The employee must use discretion and independent judgment in performing these job duties in making determinations concerning Chapter 64E-5, Florida Administrative Code. Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Available on a 24-hour-a-day basis for response to radiation emergencies. Perform duties as a member of the State Radiation Emergency Response Team. Employee is subject to emergency calls from his residence for the protection of life or property. This position is in compliance with and monitors compliance (when applicable) with the mandatory requirements in Sections 215.422 and 112.061, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 691-24.001, Florida Administrative Code. The incumbent is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36.003, Florida Administrative Code. The incumbent in this position will be required to travel in-state away from their headquarters and out-of-state, to perform or support the performance of statutory functions. Travel purposes will include routine job activities, special assignments, meetings, conferences, and training.
