About The Position
The Environmental Services Technician performs cleaning and environmental services tasks in an assigned area at Carolinas Medical Center. The role follows a 7-Step cleaning process and remakes beds after disinfecting during discharge cleaning. It also follows maintenance schedules for floors and carpets and performs a range of floor-care methods using specified equipment. On-the-job training is provided.
Requirements
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and complete written forms.
- Must undergo a physical ability test as a condition of employment.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, reaching, and climbing ladders, generally indoors.
- Ability to work around water and cleaning solutions, potentially contaminated waste, sharps, and other biohazardous waste.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine tasks in an assigned area and follow the 7-Step cleaning process.
- Disinfect and remake beds during discharge cleaning.
- Follow maintenance schedules for floors and carpets.
- Clean fixtures, furnishings, walls, woodwork, floors, stairwells, interior windows, elevators and tracks, and equipment exteriors.
- Empty trash, wipe and reline containers, and operate a compactor if necessary.
- Replenish disposable items such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
- Move and reset furnishings to their original locations after completing work.
- Perform floor-care duties, including dust mopping, wet mopping, stripping, refinishing, spot cleaning, burnishing, and extraction, using specified equipment.
