About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, handling cleaning chemicals, removing waste, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and infection-controlled working environment. This role involves direct patient contact and requires adherence to departmental quality standards and infection control guidelines. The position is full-time, working the 2nd shift from 2pm to 10:30 pm, including every other weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting, sanitizing, washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, and refinishes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpet.
  • Restocks restrooms and replaces light bulbs.
  • Reports necessary repairs to maintenance staff.
  • Assists with outdoor cleaning, which may include parking lot, windows, and roof, potentially using a ladder.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers, and finishes.
  • Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, and transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors.
  • Recycles materials and empties cigarette receptacles.
  • Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, and infection control guidelines.
  • Attends all required in-service education and training classes, including safety update programs.
