About The Position

The Environmental Services Tech is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, handling cleaning chemicals, removing waste, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and quality working environment. This role requires adherence to infection control guidelines and departmental standards. The position involves working indoors and potentially assisting with outdoor cleaning, which may include the use of a ladder. The role also requires maintaining a safe working environment and providing quality service by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, including infection control guidelines and meeting departmental quality standards. Attending all required in-service education and training classes, including safety update programs, is necessary to maintain technical knowledge. Consistently demonstrating the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines is also a key function.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include, but not limited to: Dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures, Washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures, Sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors, Vacuuming and shampooing carpet, Re-stocking restrooms, Replacing light bulbs, Reporting repairs.
  • Assists with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows, and roof. Various cleaning activities may include the use of a ladder.
  • Handles heavy contact with cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.
  • Removes waste by: Collecting and transporting soiled linen, Emptying trash containers, Changing sharps containers, Transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, Recycling material, Emptying cigarette receptacles in smoking areas.
  • Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
  • Maintains safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
  • Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
