The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, including dusting, sanitizing, washing surfaces, sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing floors, vacuuming carpets, restocking restrooms, replacing light bulbs, and reporting repairs. The role involves heavy contact with cleaning chemicals and disinfecting agents. Waste removal includes collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash and sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste, recycling, and emptying cigarette receptacles. The technician must keep equipment clean and orderly, report failures, and maintain a safe working environment by complying with procedures, infection control guidelines, and departmental quality standards. Attending all required in-service education and training classes is also a responsibility. The work is primarily indoors but may include outdoor cleaning, and may involve the use of a ladder. The candidate must be able to meet time schedules and deadlines, operate equipment, and establish cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
