The Environmental Services Technician 1 is responsible for thorough cleaning of assigned areas, adhering to all organizational policies and procedures, and observing isolation procedures and Infection Prevention Standards. This role requires knowledge of correct chemicals for different pathogens, maintaining EVS supplies and equipment, and reporting any safety hazards or equipment in need of repair. The technician will also handle special projects, move furniture and equipment, mix and store chemicals properly, and use appropriate personal protective equipment. Additionally, the role involves making beds, utilizing tracking systems, responding to calls promptly, and ensuring dismissal rooms are ready for new patients. The technician will also operate the Xenex UV Light robot where available and manage the proper handling, transport, and disposal of various waste types, including completing DOT Certification for regulated medical waste.
