About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician, also referred to as an EVS Tech or Hospital Housekeeper, helps ensure a safe and healthy hospital environment by cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to prevent infection. The role includes waste disposal, supply restocking, floor and surface maintenance, and responding to urgent cleaning needs. The technician maintains cleanliness throughout the hospital and adjacent buildings and may travel independently between facilities.

Mission Regional Medical Center is a 297-bed, non-profit hospital serving the Rio Grande Valley. It is a member of Prime Healthcare and has provided inpatient and outpatient services for over 60 years. The position is based at Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, Texas. Requirements

• One year of knowledge of acute care hospital environmental services techniques, practices, and procedures is preferred.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must be able to read, understand, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to help prevent the spread of infections.
• Dispose of medical and hazardous waste according to hospital protocols.
• Restock supplies such as gloves, masks, and cleaning materials in hospital areas.
• Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, and other surfaces using specialized equipment and chemicals.
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs, such as spills or contamination incidents, and communicate promptly using phones, handheld radios, pagers, and other devices.
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness within the hospital and adjacent buildings, traveling independently between facilities when required.
