About The Position

The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a clean, attractive, safe, and sanitary work environment. This role involves managing building and grounds maintenance, equipment upkeep, and ensuring the effective operation of various systems. The supervisor also plays a key role in safety training, disaster preparedness, and personnel management within the department.

Requirements

  • Maintain a clean, attractive, safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Keep work areas free of hazardous objects, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Maintain building, grounds, and equipment to the best operating condition, effectiveness, and attractive appearance.
  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program for the care center/campus.
  • Makes building and equipment replacements and repairs as needed.
  • Maintain equipment manuals, parts manuals, and paperwork necessary to order replacement parts.
  • Maintains heating, air conditioning, and fire control systems.
  • Maintains boilers and checks them daily, when in use, during the week, and arranges for boiler checks on weekends.
  • Oversees/ensures care center training and implementation of the care center’s safety program including the AWAIR program, disaster planning, etc., and ensures proper safety practices are observed.
  • Conducts monthly fire drills and files appropriate paperwork.
  • Follow care center’s established policies governing safety data sheets (SDS) and the handling of hazardous chemicals. Ensure that hazardous chemicals are labeled.
  • Maintains the SDS (Safety Data Sheets) records.
  • Recruit, interview, and select personnel for the department.
  • Determine departmental staffing requirements necessary to meet the department’s needs and assign a sufficient number of personnel for each tour of duty.
  • Schedule department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules), personnel and work assignments.
  • Counsel/discipline department personnel as necessary.
  • Conduct departmental performance evaluations in accordance with the care center’s policy and procedures.
  • Coordinate the availability and disposal of necessary isolation precaution equipment with Infection Control Nurse and/or delegated licensed nurse.
  • Coordinate the disposal of refuse daily in accordance with established sanitation procedures.
