About The Position

Sodexo is seeking an Environmental Services/Custodial Manager 2 to oversee third‑shift operations at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas. This leader will manage the 10:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. shift, Sunday through Thursday, ensuring consistent service quality, regulatory compliance, and effective supervision of overnight EVS teams. UTMB Health spans four campuses with more than 800 licensed beds and includes a Level I Trauma Center, Blocker Burn Unit, Level IV NICU, pediatric specialty services, transplant programs, a certified comprehensive stroke center, TDCJ hospital services, and Magnet‑recognized nursing care. The ideal candidate will bring hospital‑based Environmental Services management experience, with a strong background in patient room cleaning, Operating Room and Labor & Delivery support, floorcare programs, and customer service. The hiring team will prioritize candidates who demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to lead independently on an off‑shift, and a proven track record of maintaining high standards in complex, fast‑paced healthcare environments.

Requirements

  • Hospital‑based Environmental Services management experience
  • Strong background in patient room cleaning, Operating Room and Labor & Delivery support, floorcare programs, and customer service
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lead independently on an off‑shift
  • Proven track record of maintaining high standards in complex, fast‑paced healthcare environments
  • Experience exceeding the expectations of clients and customers in service delivery
  • Customer service and/or guest satisfaction in a healthcare or hospitality setting
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently to drive program compliance
  • Ability to monitor compliance and reach project target dates of completion
  • Experience effectively managing projects within agreed upon timelines
  • Proficiency with computers and other technology
  • Professional presence
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Driving client and patient satisfaction scores
  • Providing a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff
  • Working closely with the Infectious Control department
  • Working with the Environment of Care Committee and Infection Prevention Director
  • Effectively managing the Unit Operating System
  • Supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce
