About The Position

Maintains the cleanliness of patient and hospital facilities to support safe, high-quality health care. Performs routine cleaning of assigned areas and uses appropriate chemicals and supplies in accordance with departmental procedures. Carries out assigned tasks professionally and reflects the integrity of the Environmental Services Department. The role involves medium-to-heavy physical effort, with some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.

Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Experience of 0–6 months; experience in a domestic setting will be considered.
Ability to exert up to 35 pounds of force.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform routine cleaning of assigned areas in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.
Perform environmental services tasks including daily sanitizing with germicidal cleanser, high dusting, and cleaning windows and windowsills.
Dust mop and damp mop tiled floors; keep floors free of dust, dirt, and black marks, and clean corners, edges, and baseboards.
Select and use chemicals and supplies according to procedure; dilute chemicals to the proper ratio and ensure they are labeled and locked away when not in use.
Use and maintain equipment properly and report safety hazards as appropriate.
Transport trash and hazardous waste to the appropriate disposal area.
Distribute linens to patient wings and remove dirty linen where applicable.
Follow infection-control practices, including hand washing, Standard Precautions, and isolation precautions; use appropriate chemicals and disinfectants to help prevent the spread of infection.
Work independently with normal supervision.
Perform other duties as assigned.
