About The Position

Powers Health is hiring an Environmental Services Assistant I in Munster, Indiana, for an evening shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Under the direction of the Environmental Services Director, the assistant helps maintain a clean, attractive, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and hospital staff. The work includes cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms during stays and after discharge, maintaining assigned areas in accordance with Joint Commission on Accreditation standards, handling medical waste and linen, and maintaining environmental services equipment. The position may also involve moving furniture or heavy objects to allow cleaning.

Requirements

Able to read written instructions and comprehend verbal instructions given in English.
No experience required.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform basic cleaning to maintain assigned areas in accordance with Joint Commission on Accreditation standards.
Sweep, mop, strip, scrub, refinish, vacuum, and spot-clean floors.
Clean and polish surfaces, including vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Collect and transport medical waste and clean or dirty linen.
Clean windows, change window treatments and cubicle curtains, and wash walls.
Maintain environmental services equipment, including floor scrubbers and vacuum cleaners.
Clean and disinfect patient rooms during hospital stays and after patient discharge.
Report pest issues, such as rodents or insects, to the maintenance department.
Restock sanitation products in assigned areas.
Move furniture or heavy objects to provide a pathway for cleaning.
