About The Position

The Environmental Services Aide cleans and services rooms and furnishings in assigned areas of retirement facilities, following established procedures. The role works under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Environmental Services or equivalent. The position also maintains appropriate supplies, handles trash, recyclables, and linen, disposes of biohazard waste as directed, and uses cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment properly.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of housekeeping or related experience.
Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English fluently.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, and twist.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Ability to work with ongoing exposure to cleaning chemicals.
Completion of a background check and drug test, and participation in vaccine programs, including TB testing, as conditions of employment. Annual flu vaccination is required unless the employee has a medical and/or religious exemption.

Responsibilities

Clean assigned public and office areas and patient/resident rooms.
Clean floors using a vacuum, dust mop, and wet mop; shampoo carpets; spot-clean walls; and clean baseboards, windows, and fixtures.
Replace light bulbs as requested.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures, and arrange furniture as directed.
Follow prescribed cleaning techniques and use appropriate cleaning solutions for assigned tasks.
Ensure adequate supplies are stocked in bathrooms and supply closets.
Gather and remove trash and recyclables; handle clean and soiled linen properly.
Dispose of biohazard waste as directed.
Maintain current knowledge of the proper use of chemicals, tools, and equipment associated with cleaning assignments.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
