About The Position

The Environmental Services Aide cleans and services rooms and furnishings in assigned areas of retirement facilities, following established procedures. The position works under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Environmental Services or equivalent. Duties include cleaning public and office areas and resident rooms, maintaining supplies, handling waste and linen, and using cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment appropriately.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience doing housekeeping work or related experience.
Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English fluently.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and twist.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Ability to work with ongoing exposure to cleaning chemicals.

Responsibilities

Clean public and office areas of facilities and assigned patient or resident rooms.
Clean floors using a vacuum, dust mop, and wet mop, and shampoo carpets.
Spot-clean walls as needed; clean baseboards, windows, and fixtures; and replace light bulbs as requested.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures and arrange furniture as directed.
Follow prescribed cleaning techniques and use appropriate cleaning solutions for assigned tasks.
Ensure an adequate number of supplies are stocked in bathrooms and supply closets.
Gather and remove trash and recyclables, and handle clean and soiled linen properly.
Dispose of biohazard waste as directed.
Maintain current knowledge of the proper use of chemicals, tools, and equipment associated with cleaning assignments.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
