About The Position

The Environmental Service Worker is part of the Environmental Services team at Garnet Health Medical Center Middletown. The role helps maintain a clean, safe, and attractive environment for patients, employees, and visitors by cleaning and sanitizing rooms, furnishings, and assigned work areas according to established policies and procedures. The position may involve working in the Behavioral Health Unit and irregular hours, including evenings or potentially weekends, when needed for operational and community events.

Requirements

Grammar School education or equivalent.
Ability to read and write English and understand oral instructions.
One month of on-the-job training.
Ability to read and comprehend infection control postings and hazardous chemical warnings, and to write and follow oral and written instructions.
Complete Hospital Crisis Intervention training within three months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.
Ability to perform a full anatomical range of motion and to withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and/or constant walking.
Visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to foster collaborative relationships, work well under pressure, organize and synthesize new information, prioritize tasks, and demonstrate critical thinking, analytical skills, flexibility, and the ability to multitask.
Detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled, and sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
