About The Position

You will be a Safety Compliance Engineer with Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control manufacturing facility in Troy, Alabama. Here, you will become a member of a dynamic Environmental, Safety, and Health team supporting all programs at the Troy site. As a Safety Compliance Engineer, you will analyze accident and injury data to develop mitigation strategies, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and safeguarding employees from potential hazards. Daily interaction within manufacturing areas is expected, requiring active engagement. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a hands‑on manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or above and 1+ years professional experience; or 4 years of related professional experience.
  • Ability to interpret and apply industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as NFPA, ADEM, EPA, DOT, ANSI, OSHA, and DOD.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Must be able to pass OSHA Hazwoper Medical Evaluation and, if necessary for emergency response, wear an SCBA respirator.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and must have at a minimum an interim Secret security clearance prior to start.
  • Ability to work additional time outside of normal work schedule.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (“ATF”) background check to obtain approval to be an “employee possessor” (of explosives or other ATF-regulated items) as defined by ATF regulations. Failure to obtain and retain employee possessor status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment.
  • MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
  • The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • A company-sponsored interim Secret clearance is required to start.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven Record of implementing an Injury Reduction Program.
  • Experience with robotics, automation and advanced manufacturing.
  • Experience with SAP, Enablon, and Wind Chill or other like data management and business systems.
  • Background working knowledge of Explosive Safety
  • Knowledge of ASTM, ADEM, DOT, NFPA, ANSI and OSHA safety standards.
  • Knowledge of Radio Frequency, Laser and X-ray hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting compliance assessments to verify adherence to safety standards and procedures.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement ergonomic tools and practices within manufacturing operations.
  • Developing job hazard analyses and risk assessments to support manufacturing processes.
  • Conducting incident investigations with recommended corrective actions.
  • Applying relevant standards such as DOD, NFPA, OSHA, and ANSI.
  • Analyzing accident and injury data to develop mitigation strategies, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and safeguarding employees from potential hazards.
