About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer is responsible for assisting the EHS/Regulatory Compliance Manager with the design, implementation, and ongoing administration of the corporate EHS Program, ensuring compliance with, and adherence to, all applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Engineering or Sciences, or related fields of study
  • Ability to work any shift, and overtime, as required to support global demand
  • 5 years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience preparing environmental permit applications, OSHA 300 logs, and interacting with Federal EPA, DOT and NYS regulatory agencies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent verbal and written English language communication skills
  • Proven reliable and dependable team player with ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational, managerial, employee training disciplines
  • Ability to wear a respirator
  • Provide own source of transportation for any local/day travel, including travel between Indium Corporation facilities

Nice To Haves

  • 6-10 years preferred EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Completed 40-hour Hazwoper, DOT, and 10-hour OSHA training programs
  • Knowledge of REACH and GHS
  • Achieved CHMM or CSP certification

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and update safety and environmental procedures and policies
  • Develop plans and procedures under OSHA Process Safety Management
  • Conduct EHS inspections, drills, audits and investigations in areas of facility, ergonomic, fire and accident
  • Manage health awareness, recycling and hazardous waste management programs
  • Perform record keeping, data gathering and report preparation activities for routine regulatory requirements including auditing OSHA 300 log
  • Monitor EHS compliance of construction and contractor work being performed on-site
  • Manage vendor SDS record keeping and assist with development & maintenance of corporate SDSs
  • Coordinate the Corporate Safety Committee
  • Attend training as needed or assigned
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned
