About The Position

Terraphase Engineering is seeking a well-rounded environmental professional with 4 to 6 years of experience in environmental site investigation and remediation to join our team in our Portland, OR office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced environmental consultant looking to take the next step in their career by gaining additional project management responsibilities while continuing to develop their technical expertise. The successful candidate will support a variety of environmental investigation and remediation projects, coordinate field activities, contribute to technical deliverables, and work closely with senior project managers and technical experts to address complex environmental challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in environmental consulting, with an emphasis on site investigation, characterization, and remediation.
  • Experience coordinating environmental field investigations and managing multiple project tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of soil, groundwater, and soil vapor investigation methods and environmental remediation practices.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, work plans, and regulatory documentation.
  • Exposure to project management responsibilities, including budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and client communication.
  • Strong technical writing, organizational, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with project managers and technical teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Oregon environmental regulations and experience working with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) preferred.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with current refresher training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of environmental site investigations, site characterization, and remediation projects involving soil, groundwater, and soil vapor.
  • Coordinate and oversee field activities, including soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, and remediation system operation and maintenance.
  • Assist with project management responsibilities, including scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, and tracking project deliverables.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, work plans, proposals, and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, laboratories, and internal technical teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of remedial alternatives, including in situ and ex situ remediation technologies.
  • Communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders under the guidance of senior project managers.
  • Assist with project financial management, including tracking budgets, reviewing invoices, and identifying potential changes in project scope.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior staff during field investigations and reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality environmental consulting services.
