About The Position

Coneco Engineers & Scientists is actively seeking an Environmental Project Manager to work out of any of our office locations (Bridgewater, MA, Westford, MA, or Providence, RI). We are a consulting firm that focuses on environmental management, civil engineering, ecological permitting, and land surveying. Coneco collaborates as a team and is advancing innovative solutions and making progressive changes within the communities we live and work within. Our Environmental division maintains contracts with diverse and established local and national companies, utilities, and municipalities. We provide a wide range of services primarily in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and the greater New England area. In this position, you will collaborate closely with Senior Project Managers, Environmental Scientists, subcontractors, laboratories, and clients to deliver compliant, high-quality environmental projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of environmental consulting experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of MCP, NH DES, RI DEM, and federal environmental regulations.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing and reliable transportation to job sites.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and professional judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Comfortable communicating with clients, regulators, laboratories, and contractors.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability.
  • MCP, Emergency Response, and regulatory reporting experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental investigation, remediation, and due diligence projects in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for project execution, regulatory compliance, field coordination, reporting, and client communication.
  • Support senior management and mentor junior staff.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP), Remediation Regulations, NH DES, and ASTM Phase I ESA standards, including client-specific requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of TSCA regulations and other applicable requirements related to asbestos, hazardous waste transportation, wetlands, and related environmental issues.
  • Stay current with regulatory updates through continued education, training, and participation in publicly available seminars.
  • Prepare project proposals and manage project initiation activities.
  • Provide oversight for Phase I ESA site walkovers and conduct initial report reviews.
  • Administer project deadlines and provide weekly progress reports to the Senior Project Manager.
  • Manage field work scheduling, personnel assignments, contractor coordination, laboratory sample delivery, and receipt of analytical results.
  • Present project results, status updates, and anticipated next steps to the Senior Project Manager and then to clients.
  • Participate in the Emergency Response rotation.
  • Direct Emergency Response activities, including communication with the Senior Project Manager and client, MA DEP reporting, safety briefings, contractor coordination, field screening, documentation of site conditions, and collection of confirmatory samples.
  • Manage sample preparation and laboratory analytical methods appropriate for site-specific conditions and contaminants of concern.
  • Conduct initial report reviews for preliminary MCP and RI DEM regulated submittals.
  • Prepare deliverable reports including advanced MCP, RI DEM, NH DES, and EPA-regulated submittals.
  • Maintain awareness of project budgets, when applicable.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior staff members.
  • Maintain a minimum of 35 billable hours per week.
