About The Position

This position is within the Division of Training, Capacity Development, and Outreach, which is a Central Office program that focuses on deployment of resources, training and assistance to the regulated community for obtaining and/or maintaining technical, managerial, and financial capacity necessary to comply with federal, state, and local laws and VDH policies and procedures. Duties include the following: develops and deploys resources, training, and assistance to assist Transient Non-Community (TNC) and for-profit Non-Transient Non-Community (NTNC) waterworks ("waterworks"); ensures waterworks obtain and maintain technical, managerial, and financial capacity; helps ensure compliance with state and federal drinking water regulations and VDH policies and procedures; provides technical support, project planning, and consultation to implement the Office of Drinking Water's mission; improves timeliness of the permitting process; provides presentations to and builds relationships with the public, VDH staff, and technical assistance providers; reviews technical, managerial and financial documentation; develops meaningful metrics; and supports field offices.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of biology, microbiology, chemistry, and math
  • Knowledge of technology associated with provision of drinking water
  • Ability to use computers for word processing and data management
  • Excellent communications skills in English in writing, orally, interpersonally, and before groups and public meetings
  • Experience in determining compliance and enforcement actions
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate law, regulations, policies, and technical documents
  • Working knowledge of drinking water regulations and knowledge of technologies associated with provision of drinking water

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to manage a regulatory program
  • Experience in data analysis, data mining, business analysis, data management, or similar
  • Ability to work with stakeholders (e.g. technical assistance providers)
